Wild Bird Wednesday: Birds of Alaska

While on my Alaskan cruise, I didn't get a lot of opportunities to photograph birds.

I did however, capture some of the bird life around the dock at JUNEAU after my day tour of the Mendenhall Glacier. Below are a few of the birds I managed to capture in Juneau.

Mew Gull.

Black Guillemot.

Surf Scoter.

While on the tour boat on SITKA Sound we saw a few more birds:

Common Murre.

Herring Gull.

Bald Eagles in flight from afar...

And one perched in a tree...

The following images were taken at the Raptor Rehabilitation Centre in Sitka, Alaska.

Northern Rivers, NSW

It's always a great day when my husband and I venture out on one of our day trips. We love the Tweed River area, part of the Northern Rivers Region of New South Wales and just over the Queensland border.

The Northern Rivers region stretches from the Clarence River all the way up to Tweed Heads on the Queensland border. Numerous beautiful locations are all within a day's drive.

The surrounding mountain ranges are beautiful... They are even nicer on a more sunny day.

The Tweed River is a fabulous spot for morning and afternoon reflections

The iconic Mount Warning in the distance (a little covered in cloud in this shot)

Sunset reflections on the Tweed River. It was so serene!

Mount Warning can be seen a little better here (the one with the pointy top)

Brisbane City: Beautiful by day & night

I believe I live in one of the most beautiful cities in Australia; The Brisbane River snakes around the city's CBD and inner suburbs. I love shooting the Brisbane city skyline from Kangaroo Point Cliffs at any time of the day.

After the sun sets, and "blue hour" is upon us, the reflections of the city lights make the water shine like a rainbow.

Dreaming of Summer

One of our favourite beaches is Snapper Rocks; the last beach before the QLD/NSW border.
No matter where the sun sets, you can get some great angles and stunning reflections. For that reason, it's often our go-to beach when we are down on the Gold Coast.

Reverse sunsets... It always pays to look behind you. I love the pastel hues...

And of course, in the direction of the sunset there is an entirely different colour palette...
