Apparently we had a belfry on our church fifty years ago but it fell off! I do wish it had been restored. In the city next to us the bell ringing was replaced by a recorded bell sound which in no way stirs up the old memories of bell echoes throughout the day...
I loved the "Day is done / gone the sun/ from the lakes/ from the hills/ from the sky/ All is well/ safely rest/ God is nigh

Each week coming out of Girl Guides this is the song that would fill my heart and take away any fear.
